Chenin Blanc is a white grape variety originating in the Loire Valley of France. It is gaining momentum worldwide and is entering discussions and wine
lists everywhere.
This includes a groundswell of electricity around the wines of the Loire Valley, largely driven by the natural wine movement but also an urge to
drink lighter wines of lower alcohol, more structure and finesse. French Vouvray might, just might, be cool again. There is a neo-revisionist energy
around Chenin blanc.
The home of Australian Chenin blanc is the Swan Valley as it was developed by Houghton Wine Company many years ago and became be the largest selling white wine
in Australia all those years ago. In those days the name on the bottle was white burgundy, made mainly from chenin blanc.
